  1. You know, on the 4th of July, Shawn and I were driving from Warren to Cleveland, for some reason. I don’t know why we were in Warren. We ended up detouring through a small town with feed and general store. We got stuck on the side of a road while the parade passed by. It was twenty minutes of blue sky, summer sun, the smell of mowed lawns, flags on every lamppost, children collecting candy tossed from 4-H floats, high school band, the town’s first fire truck, and the veterans walking like humble aging kings in their hometown, waving to people they know and have probably known for all their lives. The parade ended in the tiny, decorated turn-around cemetery to pay tribute to their fallen. I called Cas to thank him for it and cried a little for him coming home.
