Everytime I find a truly hysterical quote…its either Will Rogers, Fran Lebowitz or Jack Handy. The Father the Daughter and the Holy Ghost of humor.
Fran Lebowitz on Clothes; “I’m deeply superficial.”
Quoting Lebowitz on Toni Morrison, “When Toni Morrison said, “Write the book you would want to read.” …She wasn’t talking to EVERYONE!”
“You’re the most judgemental person I know!”..was what Jerome Robbins said to Lebowitz when he pleaded with her to come to a rehearsal of his ballet and help him write it. When she said she knew nothing of writing ballets Robbins said, “You’re the most judgemental person I know, I’m just going to watch your face.” and that did it.
In the same video interview I found on YouTube, Lebowitz likened the Ballet Rehearsals to her desk and stated …”It would be as if all the words of the Dictionary were just lolling about my desk glaring at me and smoking…” just like the dancers…”
The entire image just left me chortling away…what a lovely way to start the day, with Fran Lebowitz interview on anything! And I quote…
“The most common error made in matters of appearance is the belief that one should disdain the superficial and let the true beauty of one’s soul shine through. If there are places on your body where this is a possibility, you are not attractive, you are leaking.” Fran Lebowitz
