I don’t know what it is… this fascination with other peoples lives. Maybe because it makes mine seem all right, not so shattered and pretty damn lucky. All I know is the more I read the more I am amazed at the ability of the human spirit to be reborn. Did you realize that two great Comedians were raised without fathers…Jackie Gleason, George Carlin. I know they say that all humor has its source in pain and I find it fascinating that the very emotion that reflects this lack of love causes it to come shining back a thousand fold from audiences when these guys put their lives out there for everyone to see. It’s as if the audience honors and recognizes each and every insult and hurt and pays it back with unconditional love and admiration for this soul that has experienced the same things they have and can put it into words. The racism, the hurt , the puzzling, the awe. I guess that saying ‘seek and ye shall find” is pretty appropriate.
